About
Hi! My name is Hayden, and I am the founder and Lead Sport Psychologist of Infinity. I am currently a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training (SEPiT), and have a MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. I currently work part-time in Academy football, and have previous experience as a psychologist in Cricket, Fencing, Golf and Rugby. I also have a particular interest and expertise in Surfing too.
What exactly does a sport psychologist do?
The easiest way to describe my work is like this; imagine that you want to improve your fitness within your sport, so you'd go and work with an S&C coach in order to do this, right? Well, to improve mental performance and well-being, you'd come and see me, a sport psychologist. Think of me like a mind coach, we're here to essentially coach your mind.
When working with me, I'll try my best to understand your perspective and story, ask you questions about yourself and your life, take the time to listen, and we'll work together to come up with a solution or programme to help you as best as we can. I will provide a safe and non-judgemental space for us to work together in. This will primarily be online (I.e. via Zoom), over WhatsApp, or in person, depending on the package you choose.
A word on confidentiality
As a SEPiT I am currently undertaking my training route with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), which is one of three approved routes to become a Chartered Sport Psychologist. As such, I am bound by their code of ethics which governs my behaviour as a SEPiT. This also means that anything discussed within a session is kept fully confidential by myself, and not shared with anyone else, unless it concerns a safeguarding matter. In this instance, such information will only be shared with relevant individuals, such as a Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) with your club, organisation, or NGB.
